El comienzo ..................... The beginning

Podría contar que tengo muchas tazas infantiles

I could tell that I have many children's cups

y también platos…

and dishes ...

Pero mejor empezar por el principio.

Esta fue la primera pieza de  mi colección. La vi en una feria de antigüedades, buscando algún tesoro para mis otras colecciones, que ya les mostraré también.  Fue amor a primera vista. La compré sin pensarlo mucho por unos pocos pesos y mientras lo hacía me di cuenta que era sólo el principio.

But better start from the beginning.
This was the first piece in my collection. I saw it at a flea market, looking for a treasure for my other collections (which I will also show you). It was love at first sight. I bought it without thinking much about it for a few pesos and realized it was just the beginning.

El dibujo de la taza –que tiempo después iba a volver a encontrar en otras- une los motivos que más se repiten en la vajilla infantil: niños, animales y duendes.

The image on the cup, which I would later find in others, includes patterns that continually repeat in cups and dishes: children, animals and gnomes.

Estos son más extraños, no? Son ilustraciones de la conocida artista inglesa Mabel Lucie Attwell.

These are weird, aren´t they? They are illustrations by the well-known English artist Mabel Lucie Attwell.

El resto de la familia está colgado en la pared de mi cocina (disculpas, no tiene la mejor luz esta foto)

Otro duende verde, epa! Mis colecciones se están mezclando…ésta es una huevera. Ya las mostraré en otro post.

Y qué hay de este personaje? Alguien los conoce? Hasta ahora no pude encontrar información. Parecen un poco serios para los chicos, no? Me gustaría aprender algo de ellos, alguien me puede ayudar?

And what about these ones? Does anyone know them? So far I couldn’t find any information. They seem to be a little serious for children. I would like to know a little bit more about them, can you help me?
